Teen Programs
The Teen Program at Caterpillar Care Centre supports adolescents with diverse learning needs as they transition from childhood into young adulthood. This program focuses on life skills, social development, emotional regulation, and early vocational exposure, preparing teens for independence, community engagement, and future opportunities.

Our approach blends therapy, coaching, and experiential learning in a safe, structured environment where teens can discover their strengths and practice real-world skills.

Program Objectives

Develop Life & Independence Skills – cooking, budgeting, grooming, and time management.

Enhance Social Confidence – friendships, teamwork, communication, and community interaction.

Promote Emotional Regulation – self-awareness, coping strategies, and resilience.

Introduce Vocational Skills – pre-work readiness and exposure to different industries.

Foster Self-Advocacy & Identity – helping teens express preferences, make decisions, and build confidence.
Key Focus Areas

Life Skills Training: Meal prep, personal hygiene, money handling, transport use.

Social Skills & Peer Bonding: Group projects, games, community outings.

Emotional Wellbeing: Mindfulness, journaling, self-regulation strategies.

Structure of the Program

Age Group: 13 – 18 years old.

Weekly Sessions: Combination of 1:1 coaching and small group activities.

Workshops: Monthly themed workshops (e.g., “Money Matters,” “Healthy Living,” “Friendship Building”).

Community-Based Learning: Outings for skill application in real-life settings.

Family Involvement: Parent meetings every term to track progress and plan next steps.

Transition Pathway: Prepares participants for the Vocational Program or independent living support.
